Eyes Wide Shut
How would you try to describe a sunset to a person who has never had eyesight? A person who was born blind only knows they are blind because someone else has tried to explained it to them. The existence that you have experienced is all that you are aware of unless you chose to believe what someone else has told you. If you were to travel to a place that you have never been before you would look at a map or get directions from someone you trust who has been there before.
It is the same way in the spiritual realm. Because of the rebellion of the first man and woman we are all born with our spiritual eyes closed. Since we have never experienced the spiritual dimension, we cannot "see" what we are missing and it does not make sense to us. A friend of mine who was retired from the military told me how his wife had become a Christian a couple of years ago. He thought to himself, "well that's fine for her" and he decided to read through the entire bible to "see what his wife was getting into". After reading the entire bible he viewed it as "Just a bunch of stories" and it meant nothing to him at the time. Later, after he became a believer in Christ and his eyes were open to the "stories", then they made sense and the Bible came alive to him in a meaningful way.
It may surprise you to learn that the information I have put on this website www.lordhelp.us is not here to convince you to become a Christian, but to help you consider that there may be an unseen spiritual dimension that you cannot understand until you seek a relationship with your Creator which will allow Him to open your spiritual eyes through a spiritual rebirth. It is hard to find something that you are not looking for. Spiritual rebirth is similar to physical birth in that it is a process. Once you have become "born again" as a new baby you will start to see things in a new light but it will take some time as you develop and grow in your relationship.
"The god of this age (Satan) has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God." 2 Corinthians 4:4 (NIV)
Never has this been more true than in today's busy society which is full of distractions that encourage people to overfill each day with work and entertainment, allowing no time to consider eternity.
